Friday Khuthabah from Haroon Masjid

In the Name of Allah the most gracious the most merciful.

Brothers and Sisters,

Time, in a life of a Muslim, is not just a part that of many things but it is the important part of many things. We learned that average European work creatively more than 8 hours a day while average Muslim work creatively not more than 30minutes a day. Our work will be recorded in detail as seen from Al-Quran: Surah Al-Kahf 18:49 And the Book (one's Record) will be placed (in the right hand for a believer in the Oneness of Allah, and in the left hand for a disbeliever in the Oneness of Allah), and you will see the Mujrimun
(criminals, polytheists, sinners), fearful of that which is (recorded) therein. They will say: '' Woe to us! What sort of Book is this nor a big thing, but has recorded it with number!'' And they will find all that they did, placed before them, and your Lord treats no one with injustice.

Allah (Sub) Emphasize the importance of time in many Surah (Makeeyah) such as: By the night as it envelops, By the day as it appears in brightness. Or By the forenoon, By the night when it darkens. Or By Al-Asr (the time), Verily, man is in loss. Therefore, time is very important part of many thing in our lives. Al-Quran also reveals the benefits that Muslims will gain from proper time management.

From the Sunnah of Rasulullah (Sal), Muaaz bin jabal (Rd) narrated : '' Nabi Muhammad (Sal) said, the feet of the slave of Allah will not step out of its place on the day of judgement until he is questioned about 4 things

1st. How he spent his age
2nd. How he spent his youth
3rd. How he earned and spent his assets
4th. How to made use of his knowledge (Tabrani)

This way, man will be question about how he spends his time especially when he is fully strong between the two weaknesses of life as seen in Quran: Surah Al-Rum 30:54 Allah is He Who created you in (a state of) weakness, then gave you strength after weakness, then after strength gave (you) weakness and grey hair. He creates what he wills. And it is He Who is the All-Knowing, the All-Powerfull (i.e. Able to do all things).

The uniqueness of time for Muslim that Islam prescribed as the way of life makes us aware of how we spent our time not only for this world but for both worlds. Consider the time we spot a galaxy a million light years away, we know that they were already orbit away from the point that our eyes contact them for a million years too. Yet life is faster than light. We were born, grown up and reach old age as if it was only some years ag.

When the night pauses and its darkness slowly fades away, the caller for prayer calls believer to worship Allah (Sub), He says : '' Come to Salah, come to success '' , '' Salah is better than sleeping '' . Then believers will say: '' You are right, You are doing right '' . But for people who stay late and could not wake up to receive the Blessing in the early morning, they are really miserable.

In the month of Ramadan, we hope that we can spent our time effectively. This is to show our gratitude toward Allah (Sub). Rasullulah (Sal) said: '' whoever fasts in Ramadan with faith and hope to receive reward from Allah (Sub), his sins will be forgiven and whoever stands for Salah in Ramadan with faith and hope to receive reward from Allah (Sub), his sins will be forgiven.

Brothers and Sisters,

Middle East is both historical and beneficial region for powerful nations. Jerusalem and Mekka shares historical and religious relation as appeared in the Holy book og Allah:

Surah Al-Isra 17:1
Glorifiled (and Exalted) is He (Allah) to Al-Masjid Al-Aqsa (in Jerusalem), the journey by night from Al-Masjid Al-Haram (at Mekka) to Al-Masjid Al-Aqsa (in Jerusalem), the neighbourhood whereof We have blessed, in order that We might show him Muhammad (Sal) of Our Signs. Verily, He is the All-Seer.

Narrated Jabir bin Abdullah (ra) that he heard Prophet Muhammad (Sal) saying '' When the people of Quraish did not believe me (in the story of my night journey), I stood up in Al-Hijr and Allah displayes Jerusalem in front of me, and I began describing it to them whiule I was looking at it. '' (Sahih Al-Bukhari)

Masjid Al-Aqsa in Jerusalem is a scared place to all Jews, Christians and Muslims. The people of the books including Muslims know that God is One. Prophet David and Solomon (As) were preaching the same Oneness of Allah as Prophet Moses and Jesus and the last Prophet Muhammad (Sal) preached. The same house of Allah that His Glorious Names have ever been cherishing since the time of old. All of these are in Jerusalem. But why people who believe or said to be believers have to kill and oppressed one another whenever they are in power. The answer can be explained into two folds. Firstly, Greed and secondly, arrogance or pride.

After world war I, England resumed the role of governor of the region soon after it was separated from Ottoman Empire. And after the world war II, England played evident role in protecting their investors who invested in oil exploration and production in the Middle East except Saudi Arabia where United States of America is a major investor. England and the USA tried to prevent the expension communisim from the USSR or Rassia by providing military assistance to the region.

Later on in 1946 with the help of England and USA, Isreal had been established. This brought three wars between the Arabs and Isreal. The Arabs including Egypt, Iraq and Seria in supporting the Palestinians to fight the Isrealis supported by the UK and USA. The Arabs could not win the war therefore they asked for military assistance from Russia. The Russia was facing tough situation when confronting USA and UK. Finally, the USSR was broken into pieces after the cold war since the USSR became the threat to Isreal by supporting the Arabs. This phenomenon creates more Muslim nations and most of them are in Central Asia with full of Natural Gas and Oil reserves. The USA already invested in these countries. There are three countries, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Tajakistan that have no access to the sea but all of these countries are connected to Afganistan. Therefore Afganistan is a key to transport goods and resourses to thesea from Central Asia through Pakistan.

Arrogant caused the fall of Iblis. Iblis thought that he is superior to Adam and he arrogantly refused to submit himself to Allah's Command i.e. to salute Adam. The punishment is the torment in the hell fire.

Surah Al-A'raf 7:12.
Allah said : What prevented you O Iblis that you did not prostrate yourself, when I commanded you/ Iblis said : I am better than hin (Adam), You created me from fire, and hin You created from clay.

Adam's fault was out of his greed. He broke Allah's Command because he wanted to eat the forbidden fruit.

Surah Al-A'raf 7:20.
Then Shaitan (Satan) whispered suggestions to them both in order to uncover that which was hidden from them of their private parts (before); he said : Your Lord did not forbid you this tree save you should become angels or become of one another.

And the punishment was to be enemy of one another.

Surah Al-A'raf 7:24. Allah said : Get down, one of you an enemy to the other. (Adam, Hawar, Iblis) ON EARTH WILL BE A DWELLING PLACE FOR YOU AND AN ENJOYMENT FOR A TIME.

Anyhow, later on Allah forgive Adam. If we disobey Allah because of greed then we should repent and ask for forgiveness. But if we disobey Allah because of greed as well as arrogance then Allah will punish them reverely.

With reference to the truth about the night journey of prophet Muhammad (Sal), shows that human soul can grow in the stages of life step by step. The steps include morally good conduct, kind to parents and kids, kind to fellow men, keep ourselves clean and pure from illegal acts and to protect the orphans and/or the week. Do not forget that we are not coming to this world for any other purposes but to worship Allah alone. And along with our sincere Ibadah to Allah, we have to be good to all human folks as well.

Brothers and Sisters,

Whenever a calamity afflicts a community, the first step to take is to have a sincere repentance. Allah says what translates as,

Surah An-Nur 24:31 '' .... And all of you beg Allah to forgive you, O believers, that you may be successful.

Every Muslim needs to have a sincere repentance. If anyone however says, 'What is the relevance of my personal repentance to the rectification of the Muslims' condition? He should be told that the cause of all good in this world and the hereafter is the obedience to Allah and the cause of evil retribution is to disobey him. He should also be told that, the repentane of every individual brings greater good and reduces calamities on the Muslims.

Further, past nations were destroyed because of the existence of many sinners and fewness of righteous people. The sin of a single individual may destroy a whole nation. Allah caused the people og Thamud to perish because one of them killed the camel. Allah says about some of the destroyed nation.

Surah Al-Ankabut 29:40 ''So We punished each (of them) for his sins; of them were those on whom We sent a violent wind with shower of stones, of them there were those who were overtaken by awful cry, (as Thamud or Shu'aib's people), of them were those whom We caused the earth to swallow and of them were those whom We drowned. It was not Allah who wronged them, but they wronged themselves.''

Zainab bint Jahsh, (rd), narrated that, 'I said, 'O Meseenger of Allah! Are we going to be destroyed while there are righteous people among us? Rasulullah (Sal) said, ''Yes, when immorality and alcoholic drinking have become widespread.''

Do not threfore treat the matter of repentance lightly for it is the way out of all hardships. Hold fast unto the Book of Allah and Sunnah (path) of His Messenger (Sal), for they are the light and guidance that save darkness and error.

Islam commands the Muslims to be united and forbade them from disunity. Muslims should also unite in the face of his changing world that aspires to change the creed of Islam and eliminate its values and laws. Islam while enjoining unity among Muslims, does not however mean that the non-Muslims can be attacked or denied their rights which they enjoy under the Islamic law. Id many no-Muslims understand the justice of Islam and its beauties, they would embrace Islam and would not have blamed it for wrongful acts of some Muslims.

Surah Al-An'am 6:151 ''Say (O Muhamad to the people): ' Come, I will recite what your Lord has prohibited you from: join not anything in worship with Him, be good and dutiful to your parents, kill not your children because of poverty'' - We provide sustenance for you and them - '' Come not near the shameful sins, whether committed openly or secretly and kill not any one whom Allah has forbidden except for a just cause (according to Islamic law). This He has commanded you that you may understand.''

Fear Allah as He should be feared, seek nearness to Him through righteous deeds and abstain from sins. Send forward good deeds before we meet Him and make good use of our life. Provide for ourselves answers that save us from the hardship of the Day of Resurrection.
