Friday Khuthabah from Haroon Masjid

Friday Khuthabah

In the Name of Allah the most gracious the most merciful.

Brothers and Sisters,

Time, in a life of a Muslim, is not just a part that of many things but it is the important part of many things. We learned that average European work creatively more than 8 hours a day while average Muslim work creatively not more than 30minutes a day. Our work will be recorded in detail as seen from Al-Quran: Surah Al-Kahf 18:49 And the Book (one's Record) will be placed (in the right hand for a believer in the Oneness of Allah, and in the left hand for a disbeliever in the Oneness of Allah), and you will see the Mujrimun
(criminals, polytheists, sinners), fearful of that which is (recorded) therein. They will say: '' Woe to us! What sort of Book is this nor a big thing, but has recorded it with number!'' And they will find all that they did, placed before them, and your Lord treats no one with injustice.

Allah (Sub) Emphasize the importance of time in many Surah (Makeeyah) such as: By the night as it envelops, By the day as it appears in brightness. Or By the forenoon, By the night when it darkens. Or By Al-Asr (the time), Verily, man is in loss. Therefore, time is very important part of many thing in our lives. Al-Quran also reveals the benefits that Muslims will gain from proper time management.

From the Sunnah of Rasulullah (Sal), Muaaz bin jabal (Rd) narrated : '' Nabi Muhammad (Sal) said, the feet of the slave of Allah will not step out of its place on the day of judgement until he is questioned about 4 things

1st. How he spent his age
2nd. How he spent his youth
3rd. How he earned and spent his assets
4th. How to made use of his knowledge (Tabrani)

This way, man will be question about how he spends his time especially when he is fully strong between the two weaknesses of life as seen in Quran: Surah Al-Rum 30:54 Allah is He Who created you in (a state of) weakness, then gave you strength after weakness, then after strength gave (you) weakness and grey hair. He creates what he wills. And it is He Who is the All-Knowing, the All-Powerfull (i.e. Able to do all things).

The uniqueness of time for Muslim that Islam prescribed as the way of life makes us aware of how we spent our time not only for this world but for both worlds. Consider the time we spot a galaxy a million light years away, we know that they were already orbit away from the point that our eyes contact them for a million years too. Yet life is faster than light. We were born, grown up and reach old age as if it was only some years ag.

When the night pauses and its darkness slowly fades away, the caller for prayer calls believer to worship Allah (Sub), He says : '' Come to Salah, come to success '' , '' Salah is better than sleeping '' . Then believers will say: '' You are right, You are doing right '' . But for people who stay late and could not wake up to receive the Blessing in the early morning, they are really miserable.

In the month of Ramadan, we hope that we can spent our time effectively. This is to show our gratitude toward Allah (Sub). Rasullulah (Sal) said: '' whoever fasts in Ramadan with faith and hope to receive reward from Allah (Sub), his sins will be forgiven and whoever stands for Salah in Ramadan with faith and hope to receive reward from Allah (Sub), his sins will be forgiven.
